Adorably cute - about fitting in, even when you are a little different!

Wanda's First Day is an excellent beginning of the school year book to use with Kindergarten and first grade classes. Wanda is a witch, and she starts a new school where everyone else is a fairy. Realizing she doesn't fit in she asks if she is in the right place. As the day goes by she makes friends and learns that it is ok to be different. The character of Wanda and her insecurities about being different speak perfectly to the feelings that children have when they enter a new school. There are [...]

I think that this book is great for a beginning of the year theme. Wanda- a witch is supposed to be going to her first day of witch school but when she gets there she notices that everyone is different than her and that there had been a mistake- she was accidentely sent to fairy school- it would be great for the beginning of the year because students nervous or anxious about differences and not finding fiends will be be relieved because despite her differences from the fairies she finds great fr [...]

Wanda's First Day is a great book for early elementary students, or early childhood students. Teachers could read this book to the class at the very beginning of the year, such as the first week of school. A lot of kids are nervous starting a new routine, going to school for the first time, and making new friends. This book relates the way students are feeling to the fantasy story of Wanda the witch.

wanda is a witch that does not fit in on her first day of school. all of the other girls at her school are fairies. she ended up making a lot of new friends and having a great first day of school. this book is directed more towards girls as well. it has no boys in it at all. it would be a good halloween type of book because it is about witches and fairies but does not mention halloween at all.

This is a fabulous book about Wanda the witch going to her first day of witch school. She is in for a surprise when she gets there. Nobody looks like her! What will she do? In the end Wanda feels good about who she is and the school that she is going to. This is a very fun book to read aloud (possibly in the first weeks of school).

The story is about a little witch that was on her way to witch school. But, her first day was strange at first because instead she ended up in another kind of school. But, she didn't mind the change after all.

This book is a great example of how children feel in a new school. While Wanda's day is a bit different becuase she is a witch in a class full of ferrys. By the end of the book she knows she is in the right place.

It's a pretty cute story about Wanda, a witch, on her first day of school. She ends up at the wrong school but has little trouble making friends. This is intended to make little kids feel better about their own first days of school.

Wanda’s first day of school did not go as she had planned. She felt a little out of place because she was the only witch in a school full of fairies. A great read aloud for the first day of school, this book will help the kids get a sense of belonging even if they don’t think they do.

My friend who is a 2nd grade teacher reads this to the students on the first day of school each year. It is really cute.

Wanda attends her first day of school but doesn't seem quite like the rest of the students. Is she at the right school? Will she learn to fit in?

Adorable. This book would be fantastic for any child starting school, or even a child who feels they do not fit in. AR 3.1

A first day at school with a ‘witchy’ twist, here she meets new friends and settles in.

    • Shelly Lindsey says:

Discusses the first day of school with a twist of imgaination by using the first day of a witch's school day.
