Created by Chris Lauer in collaboration with the editors of Soundview Executive Book Summaries, this is one of two volumes in which readers are provided with the core concepts and most important insights of some of the most influential authors of books on management. The summaries are useful for anyone who doesn't have the time or doesn't want to read the original books. But they are incredibly dry, which made it very difficult to finish. A reader is better off scanning through this and picking out the parts that can help them with a particular problem, rather than try to read through the entire book.

Very powerful book serving as a teaser for more in depth material covering everything from people management, crisis management, leadership application etc. Highly recommended if you want to get a feel for what the concepts cover prior to buying the mammoth editions.

For work - I picked this up recently to see if I am even close to managing as the 'gurus' manage. Because I am so new at management I think sometimes I feel intuitive and good about the job I am doing and other times I feel like I could really use some advice.

A must-read book on management for knowledge workers, managers, executives, and entrepreneurs.
