This review can originally be found on Olivia's Catastrophe: olivia-savannah/20I am being a bit harsh on this book. It had a lot of elements in it that I didn’t like, and yet I still managed to enjoy the book reasonably well and hope to read the second book.It had been SO long since I’d read a vampire book so I was looking forward to it. I couldn’t help being a bit disappointed that this book was mostly centered on the vampire hunters and not the vampires themselves. In fact, we even get a [...]

5 stars!I absolutely LOVE this series I just completed both books and all I can say is incredible. I have read many paranormal books and this is one of my top favs now! You get to meet some amazing characters in this book, I really love Anara. She has to be one of the coolest paranormal characters I have met. We have young warriors fighting a battle to save the humans from a threat they do not even know exists. You get to meet Ryan and Beau two young men on a journey to help save the world. We a [...]

Wow the writing of the fighting scenes were so realistic. This is about vampires but they are not the main characters. They are the evil beings that are being fought by 2 mortal brothers and an immortal cursed woman who is a bad ass. And if that isn’t strange enough there are two little girls they become guardians of when their mother is killed and the vampire queen wants them for nefarious purposes. I was glad to see this was the start of a new series and the next book comes out in March.

Chapter one, told from Anara's POV, had me hooked. She's a mystery. She's been alive for five hundred years, she's dressed in armor and hunts those who harm innocents. When we meet her she's trying to save a woman from vampires, but she's unsuccessful. Saddened over her inability to save the woman she does something she never would have in the past - she agrees to honor the woman's final wish to protect her two daughters. From here on out, chapters alternate between the POV of Anara and Ryan. He [...]

I received a free copy of this book from Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for a review. I did not receive any compensation nor did I guarantee a favorable review. If you are looking for spoilers then stop reading as I never share spoilers.I thought this book was going to be all about vampires but it's about so much more, as other immortal varieties have been included along with humans of course! This was a fast paced story which I read from beginning to end in one sitting. Well developed characters [...]

      * Rating: 3.5 stars** Originally published on WillReadForFeels*** I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.A mysterious winged heroine. A promise made to a dying mother. Two uncanny orphans. And a couple of vampire hunting brothers who are much nicer than their tough-guy exteriors would lead you to believe. All these elements combine in Stone Cold Dead, the first novella in a new paranormal romance ser [...]

I received a free copy in exchange for my honest review.“Stone Cold Dead” is the first novella in the Dark Secrets series by Shea Berkley. It is told in first person from more than one point of view. The story starts with lots of action. It has a clear goal. The writing style is simple and well-suited for this type of book, because there is a lot of fighting and it keeps that fast pace going. I really enjoyed the characters, the excitement of the story, and the mystery surrounding Anara’s c [...]

Brothers, Ryan and Beau have made it their mission to hunt down and kill vampires ever since Beau's girlfriend was murdered. Ryan and Beau find out that they are not the only ones hunting these creatures of the night. They have been getting help from Anara, another type of creature of the night, one that is cursed. Anara is a fierce, female warrior. Anara defeated a few vampires intent on killing two young girls, she promises the girls that she will help take care of them, but her curse makes th [...]

This novella was okay, but it really needed to be longer and more detailed so the reader could connect with the story and characters.Anara, our main character, is a gargoyle (or something similar). So by day, Anara is perched on the top of a church watching the world go by. And by night, she hunts vampires. I like Anara, but I want to know more about her. She has lived for centuries - but we don't know anything other than she was cursed to turn to stone in the sun, she is lonely, and she fights [...]

This story was basically laying some groundwork and introducing a few key characters and creatures of The Dark Secrets world. ARC received through Xpresso Book Tours for the purposes of an honest review.Enara is a warrior under a curse. By day she is forced only to observe the world without being able to interact with it. At night, she comes alive and is one of the most fierce defenders in a world which is taunted by supernatural creatures. In her desperation to look after some young innocents, [...]

By alisonThis review is from: Dark Secrets: Stone Cold Dead (Kindle Edition)This book was fun and enjoyable to read. Dark Secrets has more than one supernatural creatures than just one. Which I enjoy reading about and how the humans are also mentioned. The characters were well written and the writing was fantastic as well. This is one author to look out for in the future. Dark Secrets was a fast paced read that I read in one setting I couldn't put it down once I started reading. The fighting sce [...]

I was intrigued by the cover, and then as I am a fan of vampire- underworld books, I really wanted it to be special. But I was disappointed. It has one element that was intriguing, Anara. Her way of living as a stone statue by day and as a fighter by night was something I've never thought of. But the rest Brothers with alfa issues, two orphan sisters hunted by vampires and a little of love (which was one of the most poorly written stories of all times). To be continued.
